Introduction

I have to admit, when I was younger, I was not a fan of Africa. Although it is the second largest continent in the world after Asia, I didn’t know much about it other than what we learned in school: that many of its inhabitants live in poverty and there are wars going on all over the place. When my friends went to Africa on their gap year, they came back excited to tell me about how many amazing things there were to see and do during their travels—and that made me want to go too! However, as an adult with family obligations and responsibilities (like paying off student loans), traveling became less of a priority for me. So when my husband got offered a job overseas two years ago, we decided this would finally be our chance to explore Africa as well as experience some other countries around the globe together.

The Most Fascinating Africa I Met On My Trip

The Interesting People I Met

The people I met were very interesting. They were friendly and welcoming, and they had a lot of knowledge to share with me. Some of them were fun to talk to!

The Great Food and Drinks

The food in Africa is incredible. There are so many different kinds of cuisine, each one with its own unique flavors and ingredients. I was amazed at how spicy some dishes were (I am not a fan of spicy foods), but they were all so delicious! The best part about eating in Africa is that it’s cheap and healthy too!

I think this is because most meals are cooked using fresh ingredients straight from the farm or market; there aren’t any processed foods like we have back home. It also helps that many people grow their own vegetables on their farms or in pots outside their homes, which means there aren’t any pesticides used on them either–just lots of love!

The Breath Taking Scenery

The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive in Africa is just how different it is from what you’re used to. While there are so many things to love about your home country, there’s something about the scenery of Africa that will make it hard for you to go back.

The second thing that will catch your eye as soon as you land on African soil is its breathtaking beauty. The landscapes are expansive and full of life–and they’re also full of color! Even if you don’t know anything about photography or art (or even if those things aren’t really your thing), there’s no denying that these photos are some of the most stunning examples ever taken by human beings:

A Different Culture

You will be amazed by the cultural differences in Africa. The people speak different languages, follow different religions and eat different food. They have their own art and music too!

Africa is such a diverse continent, with so much to learn and experience.
